“Tales from the Night” is an original production which combines poetry, stories, and music. One of the metaphors that Tomek Pietrasiewicz uses to describe Brama Grodzka is “an orphanage of stories.” These are actually pieces of stories, or fragments from a lost world, that would not have a home anywhere had they not been saved by Brama Grodzka. In “Tales From the Night” you will be introduced to some of them, as well as to Jacob Glatstein’s deeply moving postwar poem, “Lublin, My Holy City.” Witek is accompanied by musicians Marian Pędzisz and Robert Brzozowski. The music was written by Robert Brzozowski. Directed by Tomasz Pietrasiewicz. The performance will be in Polish with English subtitles.The performance will be followed by a Q&A with Witek about how Brama Grodzka uses theater to commemorate Jewish Poland.
